About Metro Nashville Chorus
Metro Nashville Chorus has performed and promoted the barbershop sound in middle Tennessee for 40 years. By earning one of the highest world-wide contest scores within its size division, the chorus qualified to compete in the Harmony Classic a record five times: 2001, 2002, 2006, 2008 and 2011. MNC was named 2006 International Small Chorus Champions in 2006 and earned the title International Mid-Size Chorus Champion for 2008 and 2012. MNC also qualified as a Wild Card for the 2009 and 2012 International Competitions. Most MNC members live in the Nashville area but some come from Columbia, Knoxville, and Huntsville, and as far away as Birmingham and Memphis. Visitors and women who love to sing are invited to rehearsals.
About Kim Wonders
An active member of Metro Nashville since 1979, Wonders sang bass with 1983 Regional Quartet Champions. She became director in 1988, and under her direction the chorus has qualified for Sweet Adeline International competitions 8 times. Kim recently retired from teaching after 31 years. For the last 24 years of her teaching career, she was the Choral Director at Hunters Lane High School. Her very active choral program included annual Broadway musical productions and performances by the Hunters Lane Madrigals throughout Middle Tennessee and in festivals across the country. She also taught in the school’s International Baccalaureate Program.
About Sweet Adelines International
Sweet Adelines International (www.sweetadelineintl.org) is the women’s counterpart of the men’s Barbershop Harmony Society. Membership includes over 25,000 women, all singing in English. They represent choruses in most of the fifty United States as well as in Australia, Canada, England, Finland, Germany, Ireland, Japan, New Zealand, Scotland, Sweden, Wales and the Netherlands. There are also prospective choruses in Denmark, Greece and United Arab Emirates.
